JPG to PNG : what to know
PNG is a lossless format: once converted, the image no longer degrades when you edit and save it several times. It's often required for logos, screenshots, collages and some websites or apps. Note that a PNG made from a photo is larger than the original JPG.

Does converting improve quality?
No: it keeps exactly the quality of the JPG, with no further loss. Compression artifacts already in the JPG remain visible.
Why is the PNG bigger?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly, while JPG simplifies the image. For a photo, the PNG is often 3 to 10 times larger.
Does the background become transparent?
No, a JPG photo has no transparency: the background stays as it is. Removing a background requires a cut-out tool.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
